iOS themesIf one thing is certain in this world, it is that people will revolt against any sort of restriction against individuality. And when it comes to the design of iPhones, iPads and other Apple products, there isn’t much opportunity to truly express oneself with a unique look, other than basic wallpaper.

That is, unless you jailbreak your device.

Apple had to see this coming. Who thought that simply customizing a wallpaper background would be enough for those of us who thrive on individuality and a complete overhaul of the designs in our lives?

Anyway…let’s first look at what iOS themes are, and then we can dive into how to get them onto your device in a matter of minutes.

So, What are iOS Themes?

First, it’s important to understand what iOS themes are.

They are exactly what you think – a way to customize the look of your iPhone/iPad by changing the background, icons, fonts – anything you want. And with so much freedom at one’s disposal, graphic artists and developers have really had a field day with some themes, completely altering the look of Apple devices.

How to Install iOS Themes

There are a number of ways in which you can install an iOS theme, and one of the easiest ways is to jailbreak your phone and install Cydia. This can be accomplished in just a couple of steps (remember to back up your device first!).

Once your iPhone or iPad has been unlocked, you will see Cydia show up on your Springboard, which is a directory for all available jailbreak apps on the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

After undergoing a few potential upgrades inside the app itself, you will want to download WinterBoard from Cydia. WinterBoard is the app that will allow you to install your new iOS theme on your device. Once that has been downloaded, you can search through a vast library of available themes.

All you have to do is install your chosen theme through Cydia and you’re done! Before you know it, you’ll be rocking an iPhone that might look a little something like this:
