A little while back, Six Revisions, gave us the opportunity to write a guest blog post on how to design browser themes. I’m going to borrow from that post to highlight the element of logos in the browser theme. It’s mostly a challenge in Firefox because of added capability, and potential pitfalls.
Firefox allows insertion of a logo to the left of the navigation buttons. Your logo can actually shift the entire navigation area to the right. For a brand, this is great. Users, however,

Google Chrome is the most recent entrant into the browser wars. Chrome has rapidly gained market share since its release and has already found a following amongst web surfers. Through its minimalist design, which is typical of Google products, you’ll find that the web browsing experience has become even easier. Google’s Chrome browser has the same important features as the other two major browsers, Internet Explorer and Firefox, such as multiple tabs, but also features additional ease of use with Google products such as Gmail or Google Docs.

One of the primary differences between a toolbar and the browser theme is the heavy graphics of the browser theme. This visual prominence is a big plus, but also has its share of negatives. You can overcome users tiring of the theme by keeping it updated with occasional updates and refreshes. These changes will automatically roll out to all the users of your theme.
There are a few steps to achieve this.

Brand loyalty is fierce among browser users. Everyone seems to have found their favorite browser and uses them consistently, but a few people have become real fans. Some people have found that the time spent on their browser is not enough and they need to show their love for their favorite browser on their desktop background as well. Firefox seems to be one of the brands that inspires to most loyal fan base for Wallpapers.
Though there are many Firefox wallpapers available if you do a simple search for them, you’ll find that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of fan wallpapers available. If you’re in the market for a new desktop background and you love Firefox, you’re sure to find one that suits your style.

BT:Engage, Brand Thunder’s new browser theme creation platform, is in private beta after long time being a dream. (You can skip ahead and watch this two minute video showing
how to build a browser theme and engage an audience.)
Brand Thunder is the leader in interactive browser themes. We earned this place by painstakingly building each and every theme. Employing people and procedures that ran the gamut from developers to hackers, megalomaniacs to mono-taskers, kowtowing to cow tipping. We did what was necessary to take a lean team and build a recognized product in the marketplace. And we can’t keep up.
This “build it by hand” product method is great and we’ve got some cool technologies and implementations to show for it, but it’ll never scale.
